control this animal
the dog still wonders
can't you control this animal?
everyone asks the same question
and the dog still wonders why
as it looks to the master,
exceeding all expectations.
but he sees only a pack animal
giving the same look back,
with a dogs raw love.
unsure of what is seen
in the other's threatening unknowns.
neither wants discovered
the exchanged familiar glances
distanced, they share an experience.
to make both animals more human
from a new perspective.
one familiar and one sapien
the two add up to more.
he knows this is true;
he wants to be social;
he can be the one;
he controls the beast within;
every dog has its day.
feral or domesticated
one reaction at a time,
from personal interpretation, and
he knows he leads the way
this human and his kind
they think they are the alpha.
but the dog still wonders why,
asking can't this animal be controlled?
so the master withholds his grace
