Contradictions Poem

Expanding the Shakespeare's lines

William Shakespeare

You say that you love rain,

but you open your umbrella when it rains.

You say that you love the sun,

but you find a shadow spot when the sun shines.

You say that you love the wind,

but you close your windows when wind blows.

You say you love the night

but you go on and sleep tight

Proclaiming to adore the moon's soft glow,

you shy away from the darkness it unveils.

Expressing a love for the midnight hour,

you race to bed before the clock strikes twelve.

You claim to cherish silence

yet drown it out with the cacophony of your thoughts

Professing an affection for the ocean,

you stay on the shore, afraid to get your feet wet.

You declare an appreciation for uniqueness.

but judge those who deviate from the norm.

You say you love the journey,

but you're fixated on the destination.

You boast of cherishing the wild,

Yet tame the untamed within.

You proclaim a love for the break of dawn,

Yet prefer the comfort of a dusk that's drawn.

You say you cherish moments that linger,

Yet rush through life with a hurried finger.

You express a desire for lasting peace,

But engage in conflicts that never cease.

You claim a love for the timeless art,

Yet chase after trends, tearing worlds apart.

You speak of embracing imperfections,

Yet strive for an unattainable perfection.

This is why I am afraid

you say that you love me too.

What else would contradict

What would I predict?

"To be, or not to be: that is the question." - William Shakespeare
