A Wednesday Poem

I am in the middle of turning my flesh

Into bone.

In the middle of pulling out

The last strands of color

From the black and white shift

My grey soul has taken on this hop

Between here

And there.

I am moving under my skin,

Rolling with the sensuality stirred

From the madness

Of recognizing that out there

My dream lives and breathes

And spreads her legs for me.

There is a

Tantalizing

Reward

For doing

Just good enough

Just long enough.

I am flirting with blood

And paying with bone,

Dreaming in ash

Living in smoke plumes.

Dance me over the horizon,

Push me into the dark sky until

You've no choice but to turn me

Into the very next

Constellation.
