Consequences

All I wanted, after all these years, was an apology.

Something. Anything. Just something that would've showed me - proved to me - how you regretted the actions you've done. That you regretted the decisions you made out of impulse.

Anything that would've shown your actions weren't my own fault.

You were my best friend. My person. The one I went to for help - for a need. You were the one who always stuck by my side; even on the worse days.

You were the one person I needed to hear from. The one person who should've stepped up and explained what happened - explained why it had to happen.

All I wanted - after all these years - was to know you suffered. Just as much as I have. It's fucked up. I'm aware of that - it's really fucked up.

You were my best friend. My one and only. The one person I never thought would ever hurt me. Yeah. I wanted you to hurt just as much as you've hurt me.

But we can't always get what we want, right? You've got yourself a new life. You finally have everything you could ever want. You help others now. You help to fix the problems of those in need. Congratulations. You've done it. You made something of yourself.

You finally figured out a way to cope with the past. You finally have it all figured out.

You help others now. You fix the problems of those in need.

Too bad you couldn't help the one person who needed to be fixed. You couldn't mend back together the one person you broke.

And you have to live with that - no matter how much you try to forget.

You couldn't fix the one who needed it the most.

Instead, you just fled. Packed up your bags and left.

No apology. No goodbyes.

Gone. Like the wind.
