Light, water, and earth– we are linked in creation

our history penned in the universe's magic vibration

...

In ancient waters of rivers that flow

down to lakes and oceans that gather below

...

In the sun shining down as a bright beam of light

and the small crescent moon on the darkest of nights

...

In the spread of wildflowers that welcome the spring

and the tune of the nightingale’s song as she sings

...

In the grass of the field scorched by sweltering days

and the leaves in the trees as they dance and sway

...

In the bursts of wind that blow in the storm

and the droplets in clouds as raindrops form

...

In mountainous peaks rising into the sky

and the billowy clouds floating peacefully by

...

In the shade of the valley waiting for the light to shine down

and the small seed anticipating its burst from the ground

...

In the brilliant colors that splash across sunsetting skies

and the stars that sparkle and fill wishful eyes

...

In the wolf leading the pack, the deer through the trees,

in the butterfly's chrysalis, the fish swimming upstream

...

In the mother in the heaves of giving birth to her child

tapping into something primal and wild

...

In the crest of the wave as it rolls toward the shore

over sands on the beach and the ocean floor

...

In the leaves that change color as the season shifts into fall,

and a tree that goes dormant until spring brings the thaw

...

In the snowflakes that drift and blanket the ground

reclaimed by the sun without making a sound

...

In the frosty air, winter’s first bite that suggests

all of nature to turn inward it’s time now to rest

About the Creator

Kristen Balyeat

Words fly to me on the wind, bump into me as I'm strolling the city, splash me in the face while I rest by the river, and shake me awake in the middle of the night– I’m humbly one of the many vessels they use to come to life.
