I shouldn't have clicked on that stupid button.

"See your memories"

They were memories from as far as 11 years ago today.

There you guys were

So little

Faces smiling.

You were in your matching pj's

And wearing your new school backpacks.

You didn't know this

But we were staying at a shelter for abused women

One of you wasn't even old enough to start school

But you still got a bag.

Not a care in the world

We were happy,

I fucked it up

All because I didn't know how to cope

With the trauma I'd been through.

I forgot that I was avoiding that button

I hate it now

It just brings back all the things

That are too late to fix.

And reminds me what I am missing out on everyday.

So much lost time

So much pain

Too much on nights like this.

All I can do now is remember why I fight so hard

To stay on track

To not give up

And not give in

To remember that I still have that tiny shred of hope

That one day I will see you again.

I love you to the moon and back.
