Alone in a world full of people

To you I still remain unseen,

Silently hidden in shadow.

Your eyes never linger

long enough to glimpse me,

yet I am still here; beautiful

You pass by me every day,

yet never take the time to look - only if you would stop,

you'd surely be amazed.

Long years I have spent here,

struggling to survive,

my determination strong,

my will unwavering; I will make it.

Hopelessness I won't allow to touch me,

nor depression to take hold.

Nothing can make me give up;

I'll never fold.

For I'm the rarest piece of creation,

a winner at the odds; I can't be broken,

not by mortal or by GOD,

for I'm the rose that grew

from concrete, and I shall prevail.
