Conclusions
Photo by Matt Palmer on Unsplash

You convince yourself all communication is conflict,

so conversations become arguments in a split second,

and you pull out crazy insults with no hesitation.

Questions become combative, and I can see it in your eyes,

my mere existence in your presence is a confrontation.

The kind words I had to say turned cold, meant nothing the second they escaped my mouth;

there was no convincing you I cared because you decided long ago I couldn't.

I hope these conclusions are limited to me,

but the saddest thing I can say about you is that

I do not believe they are.
