barefoot on the grass

I could practically taste the dirt between my teeth, buried as I was in broad daylight.

I could hear myself murmur words like depression but it sounded to me more like the end.

Everything was grey to my eyes, siphoned of colour and smiles and meaning.

Now Spring has brought the smell of lavender and a slowly sprouting optimism.

I step outside, barefoot on the grass, sun painting my face. It feels like recovery, like survival, like a world with colour.
