fictional poem by zoe frenchman

the bus is full of souls of wonder,

all with various stories of blunder

despite their hardships from past lives

they persist in their progress and pull out their knives

they resist their habits of self-destruction

and replace them with blocks of reconstruction

duplicitous and malicious,

yet felicitous and auspicious

take on the world and be heard

or face defeat and burn your words

bridges will tumble

stitches will humble

castles will crumble

and hassles of no mumble

deep within the tunnel

the strangers spot a funnel

they gather in a huddle

the driver’s moves are subtle

he’s preparing his rebuttal

for when he’s a convicted murder

with a sort of twisted learning curve,

an evil genius and a fraud

then how’d he get so easily caught?

he sparks the matches,

and starts the bashes,

his fatal flaws have gone too far,

and he’s the cause of the blaring alarm

his sapphire gloom,

the suffocating tomb,

the critical wound,

the inordinate doom,

brings him right back to that room.
