the last time we had a good night
we were fishing under the moon
we opted for a picnic to celebrate
our 3 month anniversary
i took a video of the light resting atop the water
and in the background the low hum of your whispers
in 2016, you were everything i could dream
we made love by the water serenaded by rain and grasshoppers
my eyes held yours and back then i could swear everything gleamed
that's just what young girls do
romanticize potential
i didn't know you would turn out to be incidental
