Cold Quiet Dip Before Sleep
Her way of getting calm

Cold Quiet Dip Before Sleep
Ice waits in the white bath, still as a held breath,
A woman lowers herself slowly, testing the silence of water.
Small crystals drift and knock together, like quiet bells in a cold chapel,
The room blue with evening, the air calm and patient.
Her shoulders sink beneath the frozen surface,
A sharp breath rises, then settles into control.
The body trembles first, then listens, then yields,
Finding a strange peace in the discipline of cold.
Each cube melts with a tiny surrender,
Each second loosens the weight of the day.
Thoughts that shouted an hour ago grow distant,
Now they float like soft fragments on still water.
She closes her eyes and counts the slow minutes,
Feeling her pulse steady beneath the cold pressure.
Pain becomes clarity, clarity becomes rest,
And the restless mind begins to quiet its storms.
Soon she will leave the bath, dry her skin, dim the lights.
Soon the bed will call her into deeper calm.
But for this moment she sits with the cold, #coldasice #freezing #frozen
A silent ritual before sleep arrives.
