Cold like the ashes of my fire.

A love lost but not forgotten

The flame I had just burned out

Like the embers in my fire

I can forgive, but I can’t forget

I never thought of you as a liar.

For so many years, your flame burned on

Warming my heart and my desire.

But alas, too late you have realised

Just how much I gave up for you

Your flame no longer burns for me

Cold like the ashes of my fire.

I loved you then, I love you now

But it will never be the same

Too much water under the bridge

To ever reignite that flame.

I sit here in my solitude

Bitter memories all consume

The sweet oxygen my fire requires

To reignite my flame

Never to return again

Cold like the ashes of my fire

Love is such a beautiful thing; I experienced the best

But illness does not care who it burns

I never dreamt that you would be next

Our lives changed far too quickly ,

We never stopped to think

We could put more wood on the fire

Rekindle embers from our love

Into a fire to keep our hearts warm

Instead, fate intervened and let it burn out

Now cold like the ashes of my fire.

Till next time,

Calvin
