they handed me a box of you

with all your parts inside

a picture of you engraved next to

the date and day you died

i sat for hours holding you near

inside this ern of stone

memories of you disappearing

and i find myself alone

i can’t get you off my mind

and I’m longing to go home

a million times I call for you

my fingers dial you on the phone

late night conversations

the darkness reminding me you’re gone

if this loneliness continues

and my fate can’t be postponed

then i will choose to join you

for eternity in stone
