CLOSET GRAVE

Unfiltered Challenge

By T. LichtPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

I promise when I fall asleep

The clothes in my closet bicker.

I can imagine the top I were most often

Boast that it’s my favorite

And the dress I wear for occasions

Interject that it’s the most special.

I can hear my sweat tops shoot back

That they’re the most athletic

And I can imagine my black funeral dress

Shrink to the back, wishing to be discarded.

I can hear my shoes start to shuffle and take sides

Flats with my favorite, heals with my dress and sneakers with my sweat tops.

I promise when I sleep they argue and bicker

Who's oldest, who's prettiest and who deserves to be in this closet.

I promise, because today I woke up

Saw hangers swinging and looked down to find the fallen...
