Clackers or Ker-Knockers 1970’s Toy

God they bruised to wrists, and got banned at school

Clackers or Ker-Knockers 1970’s Toy

In schoolyards where laughter rang,

Two balls on strings would loudly bang.

Clackers in hand, we’d swing with might,

Creating rhythms, pure delight.

Up and down, they’d dance and spin,

A test of skill, a game to win.

But miss the beat, and you’d soon find,

A bruised-up arm, a painful bind.

Teachers frowned at the constant noise,

Banning our beloved toys.

Yet still, we’d sneak them out to play,

Clacking joyfully through the day.

Though safety rules have since evolved,

And clackers from our hands dissolved,

The echoes of that clacking sound,

In childhood memories are found.
