Circles

Walking in them all the time

Friday night and I’m heading out to the bar,

Got my friends with me ready to hear

The loud rocking out crowds,

Dancing until the night fades away,

Hearing the last call of the night drift out of town.

Saturday midday headed into downtown,

Heating up the sports and the mo’town.

Drinking down the bottles, cheering up the points,

Downing and drowning out last night,

Wishing it was Monday alright.

Sunday morning hitting the church pew,

Kneeling less and hearing few,

Broken in the soul, and broken in the heart,

Waiting for Monday to start and the week to end.

Drifting through life in endless circles again.

When we go out, you are in your crowd and myself in my own,

Sometimes we pass by like ships in the night neither saying hi

Or hello, silence is what we speak

Lights coming by drifting through the dark, shadows of the ships sailing through

When all I see are the bright stars of you and me in faded memory.
