A Poem

You comfort my broken past

beneath high vaulted ceilings

and windows made from stained glass.

*

Numbed and repressed feelings

breathe again with you near

wounds from blame start healing.

*

Carved stone statues peer

over the sea of vacant wooden pews

holding thick books filled with lyrics.

*

that were once sang up in praise

from unparched lips

to a heart a blaze.

*

Burning for all who visit

eyes upon the bride

spires reaching toward an apocalypse.

*

Reconciling through a groom's speared side

holy, blessed, and sacred space

cannot put forth a lie.

*

All that has been felt is not a waste

no matter the gloom and doom

judgments, forgiveness will replace.

*

Shadows no longer loom

over this drowning soul

For surely an anchor will appear soon.
