childhood friend
the eager summer took us apart

On a clear summer cloud, I rest my mind,
Longing for home, birds on a winter sky.
My mind’s paper wings might burn with the sun,
Yet the heat warms up my soul; I can fly.
Sparkles of gold, clear lights, and heated streets
Soaring bricks, green trees, and a luscious shade.
Sometimes too hot the mind goes numb and flees
So lonely, the summer heart calls your name.
But the eager summer took us apart,
You are not here this peaceful summer night.
I look for you within the cotton clouds,
It’s the shiny moon that smiles with your light.
So long as the summer expands my wings,
So long as I can find you, summer sings.
