I.
Another Day, Another Day
Another day onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the one man
“Forward, the One Man Brigade!”
Charge for her heart!” he thought.
Into the valley of Death
Rode the one man

II.
“Forward, the One Man Brigade!”
Was the man dismayed?
Not though the lover knew
Someone had blundered
Theirs not to make reply
Theirs not to reason why
Theirs but to say and cry
Into the valley of death
Rode the one man
+
III.
Rejection to the right of him,
Rejection to the left of him,
Rejection in front of him
Fear Gripped and Dreading;
Beaten at with rebuff and dismissal
Boldy he rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death
Into the mouth of repudiation
Rode the one man
+
IV.
Ardent fury of love laid bare,
Ardent declarations in the air
Wrecking all chances there
Charging her heart, while
All of her wondered.
Plunged in the loving croak
Her reply left him nearly broke
Failure and Rejectee
Reeling from her sabre stroke
Wrecked and Crushed
Then he rode back, but not
Not ever really the same

V.
Rejection to the right of him,
Rejection to the left of him,
Rejection behind him
Worst fears realized;
Beaten at with rebuff and dismissal
While ego and attempts gone abyssal.
He who had bought that thistle
Came through the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of repulsion
All that was left of him,
Left of the one man.
+
VI.
When can his stupidity fade
O the wild charge he made!
All of her wondered.
Learn from the charge he made!
Learn from the one man Brigade,
Stupid brave man!
