A little girl waits....
HE calls her Princess.
It's his weekend to see her.
Keeping promises is not his best attribute,
which is why her mother divorced him.
At nineteen, she said I do.
HE became her Rochester,
but she could only be Jane for so long.
As she outgrew the fleeting cloak of youth,
nothing seemed to fit.
A change of address was in order and long overdue.
Another HE was waiting.
Key in hand - lust masquerading as love.
Regret moved in before the last box was unpacked.
Temporary solace on a friend's couch,
turned into eight wandering years.
Lots of HES and HIMS punctuated her time,
which felt like a life sentence.
Awoken by phone at 3 AM on a rainy April -
never a good sign.
The original HE was gone.
Left the world clutching a half empty bottle.
His death gave her new life.
No more waiting.
Princess finally grew up.
Magenta tulips rise majestically -
dots of color decorate a brilliant emerald yard.
HER name is on the mailbox.
A brightly floral doormat welcomes guests.
It is the ONLY doormat at this address.
SHE is Home.
