i wish more people could see

that when i call for a ceasefire

i am calling for the liberation of all of you,

all of us, and all of me.

none of us can be liberated under any kind of tyranny.

none of us can be free

in the face of bombs being dropped as retribution

or retaliation or some kind of “levelling the playing field”.

so many of us are fighting for the same thing,

to be free to exist as we wish,

to be free to practice our own loving ways,

to be free to know peace,

to be free of any kind of captivity.

we are pitted against each other like lions in a cage

fighting for the same piece of meat

as if there weren’t enough to feed all

on the other side of the fence.

i truly believe we are meant to know each other

in the name of peace,

to thrive alongside one another

regardless of race or religion or spiritual belief.

humans come to this earth

with love embedded deep in our hearts,

a force of nature

that will never fully go away.

this love can become dimmed or muted or forgotten,

yes,

clearly we can have these kinds of transformative catastrophes occur -

it’s evident that many have lost the connection to love from within -

It’s apparent that the pain of times gone past

have left hurt in the hearts of many.

i too,

as a human being of this earth

have been the one to hurt

and the one to hurt others -

have been the oppressor and the oppressed -

have been the one needing forgiveness and the one needing to forgive -

have been the one lacking compassion for self and other,

have been the one seeking revenge for wrongs done.

i too,

as a spiritual being of this plane

have lost my way and somehow found myself anew,

have lacked understanding and been misunderstood.

i wish more people could see

that when I call for a ceasefire,

i am not saying that I want one side to win,

because in my heart,

there are no sides,

there is only an imaginary divide

created by power and greed.

i wish more people could see

that when I call for a ceasefire,

i am calling forth a kind of union that comes from within -

i am calling forth a type of world that has yet to exist -

i am envisioning a life on earth

that knows no such thing as war

because we’ve taken the time and space

to know our shadows

and unite in our light as a human race.
