Carousel of Souls
A tenuous shadow
Like a flickering flame,
My soul ebbed and flowed
Till once more it came.
To the world of the flesh
Where battles are fought,
Souls are enmeshed
And destinies sought.
Each life is chosen,
Not a chance blunder;
A purposeful path,
A marvel – a wonder!
This time a saint,
Next time a sinner,
Often a loser,
Sometimes a winner
So the ride continues
Always with the same travelers
Playing so many parts,
Foes, friends, teachers, lovers
Till the rider no longer
Fears the ride
And the soul can accept
All of life in stride
Then the soul is free
To no longer return.
It may choose to move on
If the spirit so yearns.
To sit with the Masters
Gain the wisdom of time,
The secrets of life
And all knowledge Divine.
