Cacophony of Boys

A poem describing my chaotic home

Knock-Knock Tap-Tap

Dog yaps, toddler yaps

Toilet seat squeaks, Mom speaks

“Honey, get the door!”

Dog barks, toddler barks

Headphones off, Dad coughs

“I’m working, dear!”

Dog yelps, toddler yelps

Mom wipes, Mom gripes

“Boys, get the door!”

Downstairs TV blares, boys stare

Toilet flushes, teen shushes

“Quiet! What Mom?”

Doorbell chimes, boys climb

Dog whines, toddler signs

“Open”

Mom stands, washes hands

Boys shuffle, boys scuffle

“Let me open the door.”

Six hands grab, open doorknob

Dried hands, Mom commands

“Sit, Dog. Stay.”

Dog growls, toddler howls

Neighbor boys’ voices blend

“Our ball is in the backyard.”

Consider tipping if you want to feed my boys and dog. J/K. But seriously, if you laughed and you have extra change stuck in your couch, I'd appreciate a tip. Thanks!
