Burning For The Way We Were
We can’t go back now, only solution is forward

Burning For The Way We Were
Your old photograph still waits
Inside the drawer beside my bed
A frozen smile from better days
Before our love collapsed and bled
Sometimes I hold it through the night
Tracing outlines of your face
Trying to return inside
That vanished time and sacred place
We laughed without the weight of doubt
Dreamed like nothing could decay
Now strangers walk where lovers stood
And everything has slipped away
I’m still burning for the way we were
For nights that felt untouched by pain
For mornings waking in your arms
Before heartbreak learned my name
Songs we loved still haunt the radio
Each lyric cuts a little deep
Memories refuse to leave me
They follow even into sleep
Maybe love does not die fully
Maybe it remains somewhere
Lingering inside the silence
Floating softly through the air
You moved on toward another life
I stayed trapped inside the past
Holding ashes of forever
Praying somehow it would last
Still the fire inside my chest
Glows beneath each lonely word
I’m still burning for the way we were
And all the beauty we once shared
