Burn The Mask

Be Yourself

Behind the scenes and speculation

Hide sweaty brows and obligation

From fitted masks of expectation

To satisfy imagination

Keeping the masses at a distance

Taking the path of least resistance

Changing your face in repetition

To guarantee their satisfaction

Keeping them straight can be confusing

Creating new, spotless illusions

The devil finds it all amusing

Cause he hides in the details

Don’t let them slip

Don’t skip a beat

The world demands our stomping feet

So, fix your mask and bite your lip

You seldom get the love you give

But someday soon, you’ll get the chance

To risk it all and dance your dance

So, trash the mask and disappear

You only get one go ‘round here

Learn how to love that fragile face

And the next time you see in the mirror

Smile, and give yourself some grace
