Broken Wing

The wind once sang a song of endless flight,

My feathers, white as snow, a dazzling sight.

I soared on thermals, kissed the sun's warm face,

A monarch of the clouds, a boundless grace.

But fate, a cruel and unexpected guest,

Dashed dreams against a mountain's jagged crest.

A sudden fall, a bone that snapped and cried,

My world went dark, ambitions cast aside.

Now on the forest floor, I lie in pain,

Watching the others dance in freedom's rain.

Their joyous calls, a mockery it seems,

A constant reminder of shattered, broken dreams.

The sky, once vast and tempting, mocks my plight,

A taunting blue, a promise lost to sight.

Will I ever rise again on feathered wings,

Or am I destined to crawl on broken things?

Despair descends, a suffocating shroud,

Whispering doubts, a darkness all too loud.

Can a broken wing ever truly mend?

Can a shattered spirit ever transcend?

But wait, a flicker, a spark ignites within,

A stubborn ember that refuses to give in.

Memories surface, of triumphs tasted high,

The thrill of flight, the freedom in the sky.

A voice whispers, a strength I didn't know,

"This isn't over, the fight has yet to go."

For even grounded, there's purpose to be found,

Resilience blooms where hope can still abound.

I see the creatures of the earth below,

The patient ant, the beetle, soft and slow.

They navigate their world in different ways,

Finding beauty, purpose, in their earthly maze.

Perhaps my journey takes a different turn,

A strength to build, a lesson yet to learn.

I'll watch the wind, feel the sun's caress,

And find new ways to dream of what might bless.

Maybe I'll guide the lost, with wisdom earned,

Or share stories whispered, lessons learned.

My spirit, though tethered, will find its call,

For broken wings can inspire one and all.

The sun dips low, casting an amber glow,

A promise whispers, "There's still so much to know."

The path ahead remains a mystery,

But hope takes flight, and sets my spirit free.

The broken wing may never soar again,

But strength and purpose will transcend the pain.

For even grounded, dreams can still take flight,

And broken wings can shimmer ever bright.
