BROKEN BY LOVE

The hurts so hard to cope with I am lost

BROKEN BY LOVE

You came into my darkness
And promised me the sun,
You said my lonely searching
Was finally over and done.

You touched my face so gently,
You whispered I was home,
I never thought your loving arms
Would leave me all alone.

I gave you every secret,
I opened every door,
I placed my heart before you
And still you wanted more.

I trusted every promise,
Believed each word you said,
While you were planning endings
Inside your faithless head.

I never heard love leaving,
It made no final sound,
I only felt my happiness
Fall broken to the ground.

You walked away so calmly,
As if we had not been,
As if you never held me,
Or knew the soul within.

The bedroom kept your shadow,
Your scent stayed on the sheet,
And every passing footstep
Made my sad heart miss a beat.

I searched through old love letters,
For answers I could find,
But every word you wrote me
Was cruel now in my mind.

You left me with the questions,
You took the truth away,
And gave me nights of crying
To follow every day.

But broken is not finished,
And tears are not the end,
The heart you left in pieces
Will slowly start to mend.

One day I’ll see your memory
And feel no hurt inside,
For you may have destroyed my love,
But not my strength or pride.
