Bringing the demon down
Choosing to fight my cancer
A shadow fell across my path, unwelcome and unknown,
A quiet thief that claimed a space it never should have owned.
It brought a heavy word to bear, a weight upon my chest,
A fierce and unexpected storm that put me to the test.
But shadows only thrive in dark, and thieves can be expelled,
And I am not defined by grief or fears that I have held.
This body is a battleground, but I command the shield,
With every breath and every step, I refuse to yield.
The road is long, the climb is steep, the hours sometimes gray,
Yet hope remains an iron spark that will not fade away.
I look the demon in the eye, no longer backing down,
With every bit of strength, I'll tear it's fortress down.
For I am backed by love and light, a fierce and steady ring,
And I will fight through every night to see what dawn will bring.
The demon will not have the day, it's darkness will decline,
For I will rise and face the light, this life is truly mine!
