Boyish

A Peter Pan Themed Poem

By Vagabond WritesPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

I was once like Peter Pan — Beautiful, Boyish, and Unburdened

I surrounded myself with creatures of supernatural beauty

Tinker Bells who would die from lack of attention

I’ve killed far too many fairies with my inattentiveness

Tendency to be away too long

And unwillingness to grow up

Too prone to running away, considered a flight risk, especially on flightless nights where I’ve run out of pixie dust, and can’t manage to find any happy thoughts

My Neverland was more like never call, never showing enough affection, never going to give you up, always going to let you down

And that’s the Hook dug so deep in us as to make us inseparable even through the tik toking passage of time

You were always behind me, and so I knew you like I knew my own shadow

Without you I’ve lost my marbles, and forgotten how to fly

I swear I loved you like Peter loved Tiger Lilly, or Wendy, or Jane, or any of those nameless mermaids

I lost my North Star, and now I can’t find my way home

I just need one more kiss

I’ll even give you a thimble to protect your heart
