Stories shared

some not yet written

narratives

prompting quarrels

others

inspiring laughter

language

sparking romantic escapades

more often

denoting solemn silence

chapters

short, not-so-sweet

segments

drawn out, delightful

and the pages keep turning

reading you

causes blurry vision

headaches, eyestrain

out loud

or in my head

none of the words

make sense

literary reflections

cliches

jumbled sentences

prose poised for pause

novel intentions

filler thoughts

ideas never printed

forget about

communicated

character development

weakened plot twists

when fiction and fairy tales

articulate love

better than you

leafing through paragraphs

I discover not a hero

not a savior

not a meaningful happy ending

but a realization

you and I

no matter how hard I try

will always be bookends

never quite meeting

in the middle
