Bonded

a stream of thoughts disconnected

I collected some twist ties and shackled my sanity

tied my feelings into knots

I’ve unnailed my soul from a long-rusted past.

and unglued my self-worth from the lies.

I’ve swept and gathered

the broken pieces of my being,

haphazardly joined them with duct-tape and tears.

I’ve ripped the bandage from my still bleeding heart,

soldered the leaks and plastered the cracks,

believing the scars would empower me.

Yet, in this moment of fracture

and this journey of connection,

even with a world full of tools at hand,

I still can’t seem to find the key

to loose the chains that keep me bonded

to the demons in my mind.
