The waiter asks me

“How would you like that steak cooked?”

I answer the same:

Rare.

*

No overdone grey

Brown center devoid of

Juices and flavor.

Rare.

*

Sizzling outside crust

Layer of warm pink goodness

Bright cool red center.

Rare

*

“Bloody and mooing”

My husband is disgusted.

He likes shoe leather.

*

Rib-eye, sirloin, strip,

Burgers, t-bone, prime rib, all

Just licked by the flame.

Rare.

*

It melts in my mouth.

Carnivorous ancestors

Celebrate with me.

*

The number of times

A chef correctly cooks it

Perfectly for me:

Rare.
