I wanted to be Bobby’s Girl

Like that song from years ago.

A truer love than I could give

He would never know.

As I stood there waiting

For a chance to catch his eye,

It seemed like an eternity;

I thought that I’d just die.

Then suddenly from nowhere,

With eyes so soft and blue,

He gently touched my cheek and said,

“I’ve been watching you.”

His smile was so contagious,

I grew warm and so relaxed.

I couldn’t help but find myself

Happily smiling back.

Many years have now since passed;

I look back with no regret.

I love the man who stole my heart

Since the day we met.

Funny now, I can’t recall

The guy who made me swirl!

Thankfully, I wasn’t meant

To be a sixties “Bobby’s Girl.”
