Birds on the wires
Nature's music written on man-made structures
Birds call around corners
Unseen singers
Of the mornings.
__
If you moved from the bench
Where your coffee scents the air
You could see them
Singing
But the songs
Sound better for the
Mystery.
__
Later on the street
You see them silent
Sitting on the wires.
__
Rows of birds
Aviary annotation
Treble clef two-four
Music without sound
Small samples of
Music snatched from
The nothingness
Written by nature on man’s
Structures
Played on an imaginary piano
For everyone
For only you
As you walk
Past.

Add the gentle hum of electrical currents beneath them, & you have an even more complete melding of nature & human artifice.
Whoaaaa, I've never thought of them in this way and my mind was completely blown! This was so brilliant!
I love it when a poem gives me a new perspective on something I barely register. And you did that here, with the birds on wires, likened to music notes on a staff. Brilliant, and such a gorgeous poem. ❤️ "Small samples of Music snatched from The nothingness Written by nature on man’s Structures Played on an imaginary piano" Such an artistic phrase. I absolutely love this. Do you play an instrument?
