Beyond the Surface

For those who have ever craved something more than shallow love

Beyond the Surface

If the devil wore your face,

I know I might be tempted—

To taste of sweet fruits,

To let my lips linger on the softness of promises

That shimmer like sugar.

And if he spoke with your cunning wit,

I’d feel the spell curl around me,

Every word wrapping tight like silk—

Enchanted, perhaps,

Spellbound, even.

But you see, my darling,

Your wits, your charms, your clever little games—

They sparkle, but they do not ignite.

None of that will spur me to love you,

And if you believe I will fall so easily...

Well—

You don’t know me.

What makes me fall is seeing deeper,

Through the facades you wear like armor,

Past the labels you’ve collected like trophies,

Through the hardness you show the world.

I want to glimpse what lies beneath—

The soul beyond the surface,

The softness under the callous exterior.

You are tempting, yes.

But temptations are fleeting—

A moment’s ache satisfied,

Then gone with the next indulgence.

And then what?

I crave a love that does not run dry.

A depth that meets mine and mirrors it,

A heart that doesn’t shy away from the abyss,

But stands ready to dive with me.

I seek more than surface beauty—

I seek someone who knows what it means

To love fully, deeply, without fear.

Not just someone charming.

I want someone real.
