Being in Love

How It Feels

I took this.

Being in love.

It feels like so many things.

There is so much joy. Yet so much heartache. So many breathtaking smiles. Yet so many painful tears. There are moments that make me feel like my heart couldn't possibly fill with anymore happiness when I look at him. And moments where his face is the last one I want to see. After fights I reach for his hand under the covers to make sure we're all right. After accomplishments I look at him to see the amazement in his eyes, because I know he's proud of me.

On some days we barely talk because there's nothing to say. We take rides through the countryside to see how the light looks in the wildflower-covered fields. While other days we sit and talk for hours about the laws of countries we've never visited, but will always wish to go.

Being in love.

It's fighting. It's laughing. It's compromising. It's helping them be their best self. It's a carousel and a roller coaster of emotions.

But to have somebody always be there for you, it's worth being in love.
