Beauty in the Ordinary

City sidewalk whisper stories, steps and scuffs,

each mark a memory, like drum beat heart thumps.

Rusty fire escape, faded sign's old words,

ordinary things, whispering unheard.

Birds on window ledge, cooing soft and low,

a lullaby sung, gentle wind does blow.

Raindrops mirror sky in puddle's sheen,

clouds dance and change, a moving scene.

Hands with wrinkles, knead dough with love inside,

warmth spreads out, filling hearts wide.

Swing set sways, empty in the breeze,

laughter echoes, carried by autumn leaves.

Coffee steam curls, morning's gentle friend,

chases away darkness, until day will end.

Streetlamp leans, long shadow in moon's soft glow,

a silent dancer, watching things below.

Beauty hides in simple things, unseen,

waits for open eyes, a heart serene.

Look around, let wonder fill your mind,

the ordinary song, a treasure you will find.
