120 beats per minute for the song playing

Ba bum, ba bum, ba dum,

The music was upbeat, always a few beats ahead from the beat of the heart,

The lights hypnotizing, reds of passion, blues of melancholy,

People on the dance floor, dancing to escape, dancing to find life,

People at the bar, drinking to forget, drinking to new memories.

100 beats per minute for the average heart

Ba bum..ba dum..ba bum..

Butterflies fill the stomach, goosebumps lift at the surface,

Sweat forms on the forehead, palms become clammy,

Feet move forward to each other, eyes lock to each other.

65 beats per minute for the moment to slow down

Ba...bum...ba...bum...ba...bum...

Meeting in the middle of the dancefloor, meeting in the middle of the night,

First words spoken in close proximity, First dance in even closer distance,

Skin to Skin, lips to lips, chest to back.

50 beats per minute for the edges of sleep to amerge,

Ba....bum.....ba.....bum.....ba.....bum.....

Numbers were exchanged from phone to phone,

Promises of futures dates were said,

A new chapter of love has begun.
