Be Patient My Heart

I'm Waiting

In the sonnet of life, where love doth oft conspire,

To bind or break the hearts that dare to feel,

Thou hast known hurt, through flames and through the fire,

Left with tears that time may never heal.

************************************************

Yet here I stand, a solace in thy plight,

Offering smiles to ease thy weary soul,

A gentle hand to lead thee from the night,

To mend thy heart and make what's broken whole.

*************************************************

But still, thou keep'st a distance, wary, wise,

Guarding thy heart from further unseen pain,

A fortress built 'neath ever-watchful eyes,

Lest history's hurt doth find its way again.

*************************************************

In patience, I'll abide, and hope to prove,

That through the thorns, there blooms the rose of love.
