Livin’ life as is just isn’t

Enough for me anymore.

Gonna swim out to sea

To find another shore.

Learned to not live

Within the confines

Of meter and rhyme.

Not gonna follow the rhythm.

Society has nothing to

Offer, nothing for me to learn.

Instead I acquire knowledge

From life itself.

I’ve learned not to

Live in the back seat.

Not gonna fade into

The background.

I’m just as important,

Just as valuable,

As the next.

Not gonna be the one.

The one they never wonder about

Or say ‘who’s that?’

Gonna be the one they ask others

‘Why does he grin?’

Gonna leave everything the

Same way I entered it,

With a smile.

Not gonna let that change.

No one will ever keep

Me from the captain’s spot.

Gonna land this thing

With confidence.

Not gonna have a fit,

Or simply let

People run over me.

I’ll walk with courage.

Won’t be outdone

Or outclassed.

I’ll lead the way

To a new world order.

A place where we can all

Shine; no one’s in the background.

We all stand up for what’s right;

We all love to live.

The background is no place

For someone like me.

No place for you.

We can change everything.
