About the Creator

Kristen Balyeat

Words fly to me on the wind, bump into me as I'm strolling the city, splash me in the face while I rest by the river, and shake me awake in the middle of the night– I’m humbly one of the many vessels they use to come to life.

A very uplifting poem that could, in fact, satisfy the needs of a restful place in nature or even a guru session.

A poetic celebration of life's interconnected beauty through the eternal rhythm of breath.

This is lovely and thought-provoking. Is it weird that I read it in the voice of Samuel L Jackson with a gun and a cup of soda in his hand? Yeah, it's weird. Still: great poem.

I really wish you’d record this…. This is something you could lie back and listen to and immediately feel calmer. Great stuff. I love this.

Such a calming piece, so peaceful and relaxing. I really love how this makes me feel. The formatting combined with the different fonts really adds another layer. Really great work.

...and exhale. How beautiful. What a gift you have to give others so much peace with words, Kristen. This is just divine. Thank you. ❤️

I could see this as a meditation moment, participants flat on their backs, relaxing to your voice.

Great work Kristen. 👏☺️ Have you changed this piece as I feel I have read before ? But I didn’t comment. Or maybe it’s just the similar structure to some of your other pieces.

  • Have you ever seen the Nooma video "Breathe"? This reminds me of it. I think you would enjoy it as much as I do. I loved your beginning with breath & inspiration tied so closely together. It's one of those things from Torrey's "Fundamentals" that just boggles my mind. He bases inerrancy of the scripture on the fact that Paul describes all scripture as inspired or God-breathed. If it's inspired by God, he reasons, it must be without error. To that I respond, but every human being is inspired, God-breathed, according to Genesis. It is the very breath of God which gives us life. And yet I have never heard anyone claim that every human being (or any, for that matter, other than those who believe in the infallibility of the Pope), has been completely without error, lol. That he (not to mention so many who've followed in his line of reasoning), could make such an assertion leaves me dumbfounded with its very absurdity. BTW, in case you hadn't figured it out by now, I LOVED THIS!

I loved how the piece itself mimics the cyclic nature of breath! Some mystics might find your poem an apt expression of the experience that results from transcendental meditation!

  • Absolutely beautiful and touching! Ty so much for this 🙂💓
