Autumn Orchestra
An Invitation
The tenth month is a doorway into a different vibe, a noticeable shift, a new beginning.
Breathe in, cross the threshold into autumn, exhale and watch your breath leave your body
The evening skies streak with clouds in every shade that a fire can burn.
Hot reds and cool blues.
If its warm, the air still feels different, and the remaining heat is somehow less offensive
The first light Of October feels less intrusive. It welcomes us to the darker side of the year
The days feel slower and more alive despite the waning daylight
The crunch and musty smell of dry leaves underfoot act as the red carpet to the world’s j best show
The slow death of the bright, sweltering days of summer seems to quicken.
The first of October is an invitation to slow down, and marvel at the changing colors in the lower light.
Every other month is just a number on the calendar. Another flipped page. Time passing.
October is an awakening. It asks us to be more intentional and take notice of change.
Its a a cacophony of different smells, sounds, textures, and dropping temperatures.
It’s barbecue charcoal is slowly replaced with wood smoke from fireplaces after sunset
Ice cream trucks fade while coffee shops begin to hum in the mid afternoon.
Duvets and cozy throws replace the thin, light blankets of summer
Crockpots and cookbooks crowd counters.
The Kenmore mixer, pie dishes and cookie sheets come out of hiding.
October is so much more than another month on the calendar.
October is the sensory symphony I pine for 334 days of the year
October is a full orchestra. A bursting crescendo of sensory ecstasy.
October is the beginning of earth’s grand finale.
