Autumn

A poem

Cool, crisp

The crunch of leaves underfoot

Coffee, steaming in the morning air

Water in a kettle

A bag in a mug

Silence, birdsong

Crackle, shimmer

The lambent light of warmth

Woodsmoke, drifting upward

Embers, sparking

Life, fleeting, brilliant

Bundled, safe

Reds, yellows

Leaves falling, trees bare

Resting, recovering

Dormant, quiet

Visible, yet hidden

Safe, inside

Fog

Light

Rays through the mist

Fresh, new beams

Pure, white

A hand, gripping my hand

Arms wrapped tight

Soft, persistent vibrations

Dim, but shining light

A phone comes to life

Showing the name

Of loved ones dear

Solitude, peace

A trickle of water

Running, babbling

A lazy, gentle stream

Darkness, stars

Twinkling and shimmering

Winking from ancestral homes

Beyond reach

New, old

Ends and beginnings

Each season

A new beginning

Each season

A new ending

Cyclic

Time

A place for all

Home

Peace
