at the end of the tunnel
a poem by zoe frenchman
you try to avoid
allowing the void
to inflate with more vacancy
or escalate your agony,
there’s a slight hesitancy
to destroy the plight of stagnancy
of your bittersweet journey,
but you know what’s healthy,
don’t try to be stealthy,
embrace electricity
and ignition of honesty,
you think of hope longingly
but when it’s in your reach,
you cling on like a leech
your string is long underneath,
despite your chattering teeth
and your belief of your breach,
there’s more to learn and more to teach,
so prove to others your gift of speech
if you just keeping trying
and you just keep climbing,
with no worry for timing,
maybe you will stop crying
and maybe you will stop lying
when you tell others that you feel okay,
and it’ll be true ‘cause you healed today.
