As We Sit In This Cafe

The Way I Felt When I First Saw My Wife

As we sit in this café, your smile curls past your lips,

stoking my distant dreams.

In that instant, my mind unlocks possibilities,

future moments of memories.

Glimpses of us, shared joys and pleasures,

the longings of eternity.

I breathe it in, like crisp pine mountain air,

and it fills my senses.

As we sit in this café, your eyes meet mine,

exposing my hidden thoughts.

Your kindness speaks, as my heart inches closer,

in rhythm with yours.

Carried away, sensing the softness of your gaze,

the hope of connection.

I am awash in this, like the sun breaking through,

and it warms my face.

As we sit in this café, you reach out your hand,

taking away the hurt.

The beauty of you speaks, as my fears melt away,

clearing my thoughts.

Centered on you. Seeing a life lived together,

the journey of faith.

I stand on the promise, like the ground under my feet,

and it holds me still.
