Poem

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 5 months ago • Updated 5 months ago • 1 min read

Stretching my heart onto a canvas

something viewed as bold and fresh

Blood, sweat and tears to stir the madness

an offering of virgin flesh

I thought for sure the crows remembered, because

they seldom will forget

The way the hunger begs and claws

under wires red, raw and wet

A sampling meant for the masses

cut into pieces to appease

Handing out rose colored glasses

to see the spaces in between

Pulled and stretched to fill a purpose

sculpting, but never changing me

Mutating what is on the surface

still cradling what hides beneath

Picking the bones until exposure

still the hunger goes unsatisfied

I guess you never will find closure

until the need for it subsides
