ARE YOU SERIOUS?

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

 I wasn’t – not exactly

 *

I wrote a poem not too long ago

With what I called my odd dry wit.

Someone made a comment

That she didn’t like it one bit.

I referenced a poet of years gone by

Hoping to amuse those who’d read.

But she wasn’t happy and continued to berate

Thinking I’d take her words to heed.

No need to get nasty if you don’t like my work.

There’s one thing that you must always see.

While you may not understand what I write –

I really write to please only me.

Have fun with my mind’s meanderings,

But if you comment, please try to be kind.

I don’t write to harm or insult anyone.

I’m letting loose the thoughts of my warped mind.
