Appendix B (i) Update

Belief is now hard to come by.

Froze its behind off last winter.

Carries chill deep in its bones.

Wonders if warmth will ever again infuse and envelop.

Checks bargain sections for discount coats.

Adheres to guidance and policy.

Ends up jerked around every which way ass-backwards.

Developed the kind of bruises that made people flinch

and no amount of makeup concealed.

Sat down to dinner on its day off at a restaurant not of its choosing,

ate with unscrupulous colleagues unable to hold their liquor,

and got stuck with the check.

Can’t believe it’s been traded on the commodities exchange without consent.

(Belief can’t believe hahahahaha!)

Had to smoke a spliff.

Cut lemons in the kitchen.

Drank sprayed and rolled in the sting of cleansing juice.

Locked its last nerve away for safekeeping.

Booked a hotel in San Juan.

Found ataraxia within breeze-blown leaves and pulled up a lounge chair.

Posted selfies giving hypocrisy the finger.

Not in the least bothered.

Perspiration healthy and hot.

Soft all over summer smiling

and not taking any calls.
