Tonya Lei’s unofficial challenge;

Who Do You Actually Want To Be (I couldn’t get her story to upload)

****

I’m covered in complacency

Being what other people need

The years exfoliating parts of me

On this journey of choosing who I will be

Where truth and lies, mingle in love

A sacrificial mourning dove

Fitting the bill just like a glove

Wanting to be seen, but finding none

Fragile flesh holds tales nobody reads

Tattoos reveal the stories on my sleeve

Marred and scarred for all to see

Still invisible to those I meet

Never exactly am I the same

Still playing the role in someone’s game

Chasing the love given in a name

Changing over time and time again

Who I will be, is hard to say

When I expire at end of day

Does it even matter anyway

In this game of life we play

One day this mask will shed, I’ll stop hiding

Find the love within that sets me free

Till then, I’ll have to keep seeking

Till peeled layers reveal the me I want to be
